译文
相聚的时间总是很短很短，期待的时问总是很长很长。秋天又来了，满江的红叶向洞庭湖悠悠飘去，而你却在迢迢的万里之外。秋夜长，相思更长；只有寒露带给凄凉，只有月儿与我为伴。
真想弹奏一曲热闹的江南采莲曲，把它封在信中一封又一封地往蓟北寄去。信中没有写别的，只是写了长久以来的相思与惆怅。
注释
彩书怨：一名《彩毫怨》。彩书：即帛书，指书信。
叶下：秋至之征。初：一作“秋”。
馀（yú）：不尽的，未完的。
锦屏：锦绣屏风，这里指天空。
江南曲：乐府曲调名。这里代指歌咏游乐之曲。
贪：急切。封：这里有“写”的意思。蓟（jì）北：蓟州（今河北蓟县）以北一带地方，此泛指东北边地。
书：信。
怅：惆怅。

彩书怨创作背景
该诗创作于初唐。这首诗虽然寄寓了作者对唐中宗的思念，但不是实写自己，而是摹想之作，此诗模仿闺怨诗，写思妇怀念丈夫的怨情。

彩书怨鉴赏
该诗写思妇怀念丈夫的怨情，虽然寄寓了作者对唐中宗的思念，但不是实写自己，而是摹想之作。思妇住在江南洞庭湖边，丈夫远在蓟北。这样安排构思巧妙。首句既点明时令和地点，又化用楚辞“洞庭波兮木叶下”的诗句。中间两联对仗极工，末联点题。钟惺评此诗曰“高浑”，实为唐诗佳作。
首联点明了地点、时间和主题，即深秋时节对夫君的怀念。头一句“叶下洞庭初”化用屈原《九歌·湘夫人》“炳娟兮秋风，洞庭波兮木叶下。登白蓣兮骋望，与佳期兮夕张”句意，点明时节，又借屈原诗中盼湘女水神来的吉日之意，暗含盼夫早归的宿愿。第二句“万里余”，言丈夫离去之远，愈远则念愈深，一个“思”字统领全篇。
颔联实写思妇之怨，以“被冷”、“屏虚”写出“怨”的高潮。用“香被冷”和“锦屏虚”来反映生活的富丽和心情的空虚与苦闷，“露浓”天寒又无人共衾则“香被冷”；“月落”夜深，锦屏中仍空虚无人，闺房孤寂，自然由“思”而生怨。
颈联则进一步虚写所“思”，加深了那个“怨”字。《江南曲》本不是此诗必不可少之词语，但为了给“蓟北书”找配偶，就想到了“欲奏江南曲”一句，由此足见她对法之灵妙。其思情之深、其怨绪之烈，力透纸背。
尾联束收全篇。“无别意”表达除了相思以外，也表达了她对丈夫的关心。“久离居”表达了作者的惆怅心情。其“怨”其“思”，昭然若揭。
该诗通过描写妻子思念丈夫的场景，将“国”和“家”联系在一起，带有一定的政治色色彩。全诗深沉开阔，自然真挚，清丽含蓄，对仗工整，富有情味。
这首诗克服了初唐诗歌情感贫乏的弊端，初唐宫廷诗在将近百年的情感沉寂，开始了绵长、深情而又精彩的情感表达。从这一角度讲，堪为“宫廷诗的自赎”。

上官婉儿，复姓上官，小字婉儿，又称上官昭容，陕州陕人，祖籍陇西上邽，唐代女官、诗人、皇妃。因祖父上官仪获罪被杀后随母郑氏配入内庭为婢。十四岁时因聪慧善文为武则天重用，掌管宫中制诰多年，有“巾帼宰相”之名。唐中宗时，封为昭容，权势更盛，在政坛、文坛有着显要地位，从此以皇妃的身份掌管内廷与外朝的政令文告。曾建议扩大书馆，增设学士，在此期间主持风雅，代朝廷品评天下诗文，一时词臣多集其门，《全唐诗》收其遗诗三十二首。710年，临淄王李隆基起兵发动唐隆政变，与韦后同时被杀。
